Picasso Was Right! BAAA Grant for Youth Art In-Person

Free painting parties for young artists are being held all around Sullivan County. Pablo Picasso famously said, “It took me a lifetime to learn to paint like a child.”  And he was right! Children are the world’s best artists.

Public Libraries in Sullivan County  are collaborating with the Delaware Valley Arts Alliance and the Barryville Area Arts Association (BAAA) to host a series of events where kids get to show off their stuff.

On September 20, BAAA is planning an exhibition of all the art at the Delaware Valley Art Alliance’s Krause Recital Hall, so young people up to can have the experience of an opening night.

The exhibit will feature the work of the young artists, as well as their bios—plus an exhibit of prints of Picasso’s most childlike artwork.  With parental permission, entrants may also be included in a YouTube video of the event to be posted on Artists’ Market Community Center YouTube Channel.

Young artists up to age 17 are invited to participate

The art created at all the events is eligible for inclusion in an Opening Reception Gala at the DVAA’s Krause Recital Hall on September 20.

This project is sponsored by the Western Sullivan Public Library, the Delaware Valley Arts Alliance, and the Barryville Area Arts Association, and made possible with funds from the Statewide Community Regrant Program, a program of the NYS Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the NY State Legislature and administered by the Delaware Valley Arts Alliance, and a Community Development Grant from Sullivan 180.
